| What Is Single Use?
Odyssey Navigator is a Single-Use
application. This means you are limited to registering the
software on a single machine. You may install it on more than one
PC, however it will run in a limited mode if not registered.
Why was this method of sale offered?
Because it allows us to keep the cost much lower. Think of it this
way, if you buy a new Personal Navigation device and it gets dropped or
damaged some other way, the manufacturer or retailer is not entitled to
replace it. Most if not all commercial
software is limited to operation on one PC at a time, unless a group or
multi-user licence is also purchased.
If we were to
offer a perpetual licence we would need more infrastructure to to manage
the registration process and database, and that would increase costs.
Also with a perpetual licence, the chance of Intellectual Property and
copyright theft is much higher, thus robbing us of income. This again
would mean higher prices as we would need to build in the cost of the
theft to all users.
We offer a simple solution that offers
the lowest cost of ownership. If you do need to reinstall your
product on a new PC, or you do have a hardware failure, there may be
ways we can help with either a new key, or very low cost additional
licence key.

| Update Information
What do we call an update?
An update is a change upward in the
program version or map-data that is not defined as a operational patch to
fix program errors or bugs. All patches are released free if they are
program operation affecting. However, if we release a new program
version, which has new features, or release a new map-data set, it is
considered an update, and may be chargeable.
We plan to update Odyssey Navigator at least
once annually.
Updates will usually consist of a map-data update and a program update delivered together to minimise impact for our
customers. Upgrade prices are based on the time-since-purchase
model,
as we see this as the most fair option. Unlike our competitor that makes you
pay a flat $169 + P&P for a version upgrade be it 1 or 365 days
since your purchase.
To purchase an upgrade you must contact us via email,
do not purchase directly
from our website as the discount will not be offered. |
